ViPNet SafeDisk Mobile speichert sensible Daten in einem unsichtbaren Container. Nach dem Anbinden an das System, erscheinen diese Container als gewöhnliche Speicherkarten. Der Inhalt der Container sind die verschlüsselten Dateien. Wird eine Datei mit der Anwendung geöffnet, so entschlüsselt ViPNet SafeDisk Mobile diese Datei in Echtzeit. Wird die Datei gespeichert, so verschlüsselt ViPNet SafeDisk sie wieder automatisch. Dieser Ablauf ist für den Benutzer und die betroffenen Anwendungen absolut transparent. Zum Öffnen des Programms wird ein Passwort benötigt, welches beim ersten Start von ViPNet SafeDisk Mobile erstellt wird. Zum leichteren Merken der Passwörter kann ein einzigartiges Passwortgenerierungsverfahren verwendet werden, wobei die Passwörter auf speziellen Passwortphrasen basieren.
