Total Recorder is a multi-purpose audio recording software with wide editing and sound processing capabilities. The program lets you record anything including capturing streaming audio (from Real Player or Windows Media Player, mic input, line-in input, DVDs or CDs), Internet telephone calls or any other sound passed through PC. Optional Video Capture add-on allows for the capture, playback and editing of video files.
You can also enhance Total Recorder functionality with some additional add-ons that can be used to improve the quality of your cassette or vinyl records and voice dictating tremendously, accomplish automatic gain control, apply an equalizer, send your recordings to iTunes/iPod and others.
The main features of Total Recorder include:
1. Record sound reproduced by other programs, such as RealPlayer, Windows Media Player, iTunes, Musicmatch Jukebox, WinAmp, and many others, including Internet telephony programs.
2. Record sound coming through a microphone or played by an external device such as a tape player, LP player, portable music player, etc.
3. Capture (background record) and play back Internet broadcasts in MP3, WMA, and Ogg Vorbis formats directly without decoding or re-encoding.
4. Record Internet-telephony conversations (even full duplex) when using programs like Skype, Google Talk, etc.
5. Unique time-shift feature for off-hours recording, which lets you listen during the recording or background recording of an Internet broadcast.
6. A built-in scheduler lets you schedule future recordings and playbacks while your computer is in standby or hibernate mode and can also connect to your favorite radio station automatically.
7. Support for CUE-sheet files. A cue file is a standard file that contains information about the tracks in a media file. You can work with cue-sheet files and use cue points as bookmarks or track separators for splitting a file into tracks afterwards.
8. Convert sound data on the fly during a recording and convert files from one format to another;
9. Edit your recordings (e.g. normalize, split, cut, or join compressed audio files). Unlike most other editing programs, Total Recorder performs editing without any loss of sound quality even when editing compressed sound. |
