Total Recorder is a multi-purpose audio recording software with wide editing and sound processing capabilities. The program lets you record anything including capturing streaming audio (from Real Player or Windows Media Player, mic input, line-in input, DVDs or CDs), Internet telephone calls or any other sound passed through PC. The resulting sound files can be stored on your hard drive in WAVE format (plain or compressed), WMA or MP3 format and, if needed, is ready to be put on CD-R.
The main features of Total Recorder include:
1. Record sound reproduced by other programs, such as RealPlayer, Windows Media Player, iTunes, Musicmatch Jukebox, WinAmp, and many others, including Internet telephony programs.
2. Record sound coming through a microphone or played by an external device such as a tape player, LP player, portable music player, etc.
3. Record Internet-telephony conversations (even full duplex) when using programs like Skype, Google Talk, etc.
4. A built-in scheduler lets you schedule future recordings and playbacks while your computer is in standby or hibernate mode and can also connect to your favorite radio station automatically.
5. Convert sound data on the fly during a recording and convert files from one format to another;
6. Edit your recordings (e.g. normalize, split, cut, or join compressed audio files). Unlike most other editing programs, Total Recorder performs editing without any loss of sound quality even when editing compressed sound.
7. Export/import Total Recorder's configuration settings or scheduled jobs is useful if you need to reinstall your system, move Total Recorder from one computer to another, or as a backup.
8. "Pre-Record" facility.
9. Perform batch processing. Batch processing makes it possible, for example, to convert a set of files or to use an add-on to process multiple files all at once.
