Turbo Tape sichert (auch zeitgesteuert auch als Service) beliebige Daten, Netzlaufwerke oder Festplatten auf das erste Bandlaufwerk im verwendeten Computersystem. Dabei wird eine Software-Kompression eingesetzt, die die Daten vor dem Schreiben auf das Tape komprimiert. Dadurch wird die Schreibgeschwindigkeit und auch die Datenmenge pro Tape erheblich gesteigert (je nach CPU Leistung). Zusätzlich wird auch vorhandene Hardwarekompression genutzt (zum Beispiel HP Ultrium Serie).
